About the role

This role of Assistant Director of Place Operations is central to creating a borough that is clean and green. It involves leading investments in highways, transport connectivity, and active travel to empower access to employment, education, and cultural opportunities. The role also focuses on unlocking new development sites and supporting the borough's sustainability ambitions.

We seek someone with a background in engineering or highways who can lead across place-based services, including street scene, waste, and environment. The candidate should be experienced in leading transformation, fostering continuous improvement, empowering colleagues, and developing a unified team approach. Collaboration within the council and with external partners, especially Greater Manchester agencies, is crucial.

Most importantly, the successful candidate will understand that place services are vital in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, thereby enabling residents to thrive and attracting investment into the local economy.
