About the Role We are looking for an inquisitive and solution-focused Technical Development Editor to join our publishing team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality digital maths content that delivers clear learning outcomes and is aligned with pedagogical best practice. This is a hands-on position that combines editorial expertise with technical development, including building interactive content using JavaScript. Beyond content creation, you will oversee content maintenance and quality assurance, ensuring issues are promptly resolved and updates are implemented effectively. You will play a key role in ensuring our digital maths products are accurate, reliable, accessible, and engaging for learners. Your responsibilities will include all stages from brief to release: working with authors and freelancers; designing and building digital content in JavaScript; troubleshooting and debugging content; collaborating with internal teams for testing and release; and managing project timelines. As a technical editorial specialist, you'll also collaborate closely with editors, developers, and wider business teams to improve content formats, authoring tools, and delivery processes. You will contribute to continuous improvement by developing templates, guidance, and innovating to enhance efficiency and scalability. With a strong awareness of educational trends and market needs, you will help shape products that meet the evolving demands of teachers and learners. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about maths, technology, and delivering impactful digital learning experiences. We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office. About You High level of computer literacy, including: Basic understanding of XML/HTML. Basic understanding of coding/scripting, e.g. declaring variables and functions, using variables and functions in code, while and for loops, arrays and lists, etc. Basic understanding of MathML/Latex. Basic understanding of file systems, use of terminal and version control (like git and GitHub). Willingness to improve upon these skills independently to build content end-to-end. Highly proficient in/outstanding understanding of mathematics, sufficient to test, fix and edit for the full 5-18 range. Experience of designing, building and testing digital maths content. An inquisitive, problem-solving mind-set. Professional curiosity about technology, including educational technology and AI. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively within a matrix structure. Excellent organisation skills, able to work autonomously and problem-solve to drive work forward. Familiarity with online mathematics learning platforms. Experience of teaching or tutoring 5-18 mathematics is desirable. Awareness of trends and issues in 5-18 mathematics education is desirable. Benefits We care about work/life balance here at OUP.
