Excellent opportunity for a Senior HSEQ Advisor with a very successful civil engineering contractor based near Burgess Hill, West Sussex
The Senior Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Advisor will support the Group HSEQ Manager with all aspects of developing, implementing & maintaining the Quality Management System and driving H&S, Environment and Quality standards.
Responsibilities of the Senior HSEQ Advisor
* Provide health and safety support and advice to project teams
* Engage with teams to communicate health and safety requirements
* Monitor the adequacy of health and safety controls
* Conduct and review assurance and incident investigations
* Assist the Group HESQ Manager in maintaining & developing the company’s Integrated Management System.
* Deliver assurance visits on various construction projects and complete various inspections and audits.
* Assist in incident investigations with root cause analysis
* Assist the Group HSEQ Manager wherever possible in introducing new technology, techniques, or procedures
Requirements of the Senior HSEQ Advisor
* Excellent communication skills
* The ability to coach and mentor other employees
* A passion for safety and the ability to instil this passion in operational staff.
* Self-starter with an ability to work independently
* Robust approach with a high degree of integrity.
* Robust & up to date knowledge & understanding of HSEQ legislation
* In depth knowledge of Construction, CDM & temporary works.
* Report writing.
* Accident investigation.
Ideal Experience Requirements for the Senior HSEQ Advisor
* At least 5 years’ experience in a construction environment (preferably Civil Engineering)
* Experience of Quality Management Systems (ISO9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001), Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO45001)
* Working knowledge & understanding of construction sites & working on or near water (inland & tidal) within a civil engineering environment
Technology skills
* Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
* Experience of web-based construction management systems such as Procore
Ideal Qualifications
* NEBOSH Construction a minimum & working towards Diploma or NVQ Level 5/6 equivalent
* Hold a Lead/Internal auditor qualification 9001/45001/18001
* Must be CertIOSH minimum working towards CMIOSH
* CSCS card – Manager or Academically Qualified
* SEATS – Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme
* Full UK driving licence
