At School Lane Surgery we are a vibrant and supportive practice seeking anenthusiastic Phlebotomist to join our dynamic healthcare family.
As partof our busy and friendly team, you will need excellent communication andinterpersonal skills. You will hold a phlebotomy/Venepuncture qualification andhave some experience within this field (however training can be given, if necessary, for the right person). You will need good manual dexterity,the ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to work independently.
The job is 25 hours per week; 8am - 1pm, Mon - Fri.
£12.80 per hour, 5 weeks' annual leave plus Bank Holiday allowance

Main duties of the job
As aphlebotomist, you will be taking blood samples based at the Healthy LivingCentre, via a rota appointment system, from patients who are currentlyregistered with School Lane Surgery and outpatient patients seen at the HealthyLiving Centre on the day.

Job responsibilities
Clinicaland Technical:
Collecting, using venepuncture procedures, blood samples using bothvacutainer or needle and syringe
Monitoring and maintaining the health, safety and security of self andpatients during the venepuncture procedure. Practising within risk management
Collecting samples from patients in high-risk categories and being awareof potential hazards. Following agreed protocol to minimise risk to self andothers
Awareness of the clinical conditions and precautions that are necessaryfor sample quality to be maintained during the venepuncture procedure. Thisincludes site selection, correct use of tourniquet and selection of bloodsample bottles
Proficiency in performing venepuncture to meet the required standard
Documenting patients notes on the clinical system, SystmOne
