Job Description: Senior Engineer - Network Infrastructure

Telent seeks a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our Network Services team, providing expert 3rd line support, build, configuration, and innovative solutions for a prestigious Merseyside-based Emergency Services organization—key to community safety.
This role involves maintaining critical systems that save lives, operating in a hybrid environment with options for remote work, office presence in Liverpool (L30 1NY), and site visits across Merseyside. The ideal candidate holds a full UK driving license, has full RTW in the UK, and is eligible for SC Clearance.

As a Senior Engineer, you'll support and enhance network capabilities that enable first responders to save lives. Your responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting, fixing, building, and configuring complex Cisco-based networks.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver expert 3rd line support for network infrastructure, hardware, applications, and systems.
* Manage the full lifecycle of network devices: routers, switches, firewalls, access points.
* Monitor network performance, ensuring reliability and scalability.
* Configure, build, test, and implement new network solutions, contributing to design when needed.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation: configurations, network maps, workflows.
* Collaborate with third-party suppliers to ensure SLA compliance and issue resolution.
* Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota (1 week every 5 weeks) post-training, supporting critical incidents.
* Work within ITIL frameworks, aligning with best practices and standards.
Candidate Profile:
* Proven experience in network support, preferably within Emergency Services, Blue Light, or Managed Service environments.
* Strong operational knowledge of Cisco network technologies.
* Understanding of network protocols: OSPF, BGP, NAT, TCP/IP, load balancing, high availability.
* Experience with VPNs: IPSEC, SSTP, PKI, policy/route-based VPNs, VTI/GRE tunnels.
* Experience with Cisco Firepower and Netgate pfSense firewalls.
* CCNA/CCNP preferred but not essential.
* Security Cleared to NPPV3 or eligible for SC clearance.
* Full UK driving license and willingness to travel across Merseyside.
* Excellent communication skills, independent and team-oriented, customer-focused.
