🛠️ Facilities Engineer (Contract)

We are currently seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team at a regulated manufacturing site in Cardiff. This is a contract opportunity supporting site infrastructure, utilities, and facilities excellence within a fast-paced environment.
🔧 The Role
You will play a key role in maintaining and improving site facilities, utilities, and plant infrastructure. Working closely with the Site Engineering Manager, you’ll ensure high standards of compliance, reliability, and operational performance across all facility systems.
🚀 Key Responsibilities
* Deliver maintenance strategies for facilities, utilities, and infrastructure
* Plan and coordinate Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) via CMMS
* Manage and oversee external contractors, ensuring safety and service quality
* Issue permits to work (PTW), review RAMS, and conduct site inductions
* Support site KPIs through operational excellence and continuous improvement
* Maintain and manage facility budgets aligned with operational plans
* Raise purchase orders and manage spares using SAP
* Lead and support site projects aligned with strategic objectives
* Troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective engineering solutions
* Promote and maintain high standards of GMP, safety, and housekeeping
🧠 Skills & Experience
* Strong background in facilities / building services engineering
* Experience with:
* HVAC systems, compressed air, fire protection, and utilities
* Building Management Systems (BMS)
* Cleanroom environments (ISO standards desirable)
* Proven contractor management experience
* Knowledge of Permit to Work systems and safe systems of work
* Ability to analyse and resolve technical problems effectively
* Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, pharma, etc.) preferred
* Strong communication and IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP desirable)
* Multi-skilled across mechanical and electrical disciplines
🎓 Qualifications
* HNC/HND in Engineering or similar (essential)
* NVQ Level 4 or equivalent (desirable)
* IOSH / NEBOSH or equivalent safety certification (desirable)
* Experience working under UK Health & Safety legislation
🏭 Working Environment
* Site-based role covering all operational areas
* Days position with occasional overtime during shutdowns
* Occasional UK travel may be required
