Job Description
Job purpose:
The post-holder will provide guidance and operational delivery of all financial aspects of the Society's operations and activities. They will assess and optimise business processes and controls, identify and mitigate risks, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability. The role involves operational leadership of the finance function. There are only two people in the accounts team so the post holder will be responsible for doing the operational delivery.Key responsibilities:
Day-to-day management of the accounting function including daily bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable ledgers kept fully up to date daily with all queries promptly cleared and no aging. Keeping clean and fully reconciled balance sheet balances (including Intercompany balances, Fixed Asset Register, prepayment and accruals schedules, deferred income workings).
Working closely together as a team with the full time Assistant Accountant, whilst also providing managerial support and guidance.
Produce monthly management accounts, forecasts and detailed reporting for the Society. Quarterly financial reporting for Audit Committee.
Produce budgets: departmental budgets and overall budget control management.
Effectively and efficiently manage the Society's finance systems, policies, processes to ensure the Society is compliant and professionally managed.
Oversee in-house payroll: weekly and monthly payrolls, including HMRC and Pension scheme submissions.
Manage the tax affairs of the Society. Working with tax advisors for Corporation tax and VAT.
Ownership of key relationships including external auditors, banking service providers, insurance brokers and tax advisors, including managing the audit process.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Finance Manager should have:
3. Professional qualifications in accounting or finance (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
4. Experience working in the not-for-profit sector ideal or in small organisations ( <£10m income)
5. Proficiency Xero accounting system
6. Experince in Month end close
7. Experience in dealing with Corporation Tax and VAT.
8. Experience overseeing Payroll

9. A competitive hourly rate equivalent to a salary of £50,000 - £55,000 FTE
10. Part-time role, (0.8) working 4 days per week ( 28 hours per week)
11. 5 month contract initially that could extend or become permanent.
12. Hybrid working, 2 days office, 2 days from home
