Whitgift is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys, with approximately 1500 pupils including over 100 boarding pupils and flexi boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast. During the summer holidays, Whitgift runs its own summer school for international students, utilising all its fantastic facilities and modern boarding house. Whitgift Summer School, with its innovative and exciting English language and academic courses, along with activities which involve English speaking students, is designed to appeal to girls and boys aged 11-17 from all over the world. We are seeking to appoint an Activity Manager who will be responsible for the planning, implementing and day to day running of a varied and inspiring co-curricular programme. This programme will include sports, activities, evening social events and excursions whilst ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students is managed at all times. The Activity Manager will also be responsible for organising, managing and motivating a team of Senior Activity Leaders and Activity Leaders. The Activity Manager will report directly to the Course Director and form part of the Senior Leadership Team at the Summer School. Applicants will have a degree and previous management experience of running an Activity programme for children in a young learner, summer school or residential context, and have experience of planning and leading excursions. Teaching, Sports and coaching qualifications (or equivalent) and/or experience in Music, Performing and Creative Arts or outdoor education would be welcomed. The ability to motivate, lead, supervise and engage with staff and young learners is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, as is the ability to work calmly, effectively and positively, even whilst under pressure. Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Applicants must be able to present evidence of their right to work in the UK for the duration of the contract.
