Job Description:
Leonardo is a world-class defence technology company in Edinburgh. We develop cutting-edge Radars for the Eurofighter Typhoon, Maritime, and Airborne surveillance systems. We invest in innovation, conducting our own research to develop future products. We are recruiting talented engineers at all levels, including Hardware Engineer, Senior Hardware Engineer, Principal Hardware Engineer, and Lead Hardware Engineer.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join the PSU Core Delivery Team (CDT) in Edinburgh. The team provides expert advice, guidance, design, and governance throughout the full project lifecycle related to Power.
What would I do?
As an experienced PSU design engineer, your primary role is to lay the groundwork for future Power Systems, focusing on PSU topology analysis and new technologies in Energy Storage and Conservation. You will support other power-related tasks across projects and oversee multiple projects, acting as a technical and managerial buffer between engineering, project, and management teams.
Life at Leonardo includes benefits like half-days on Fridays, flexible hours, gym memberships, and an award-winning pension scheme. Due to the nature of the tasks, full SC security clearance and possibly additional UK eyes only and ITAR conditions are required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the engineering, project, and management teams technically and managerially.
* Assist in power system testing, prototyping, verification, and support.
* Create and review documentation such as specifications, SOWs, simulations, white papers, and test reports.
* Collaborate with other teams on EMC and grounding designs.
* Share knowledge within the PSU CDT.
* Support projects with schematic capture, component selection, and circuit simulation.
* Conduct PSU topology analysis and review energy storage and conservation technologies.
Additionally, you will contribute to process improvements and knowledge sharing across the organization.
Growth Opportunities:
We encourage our engineers to pursue their passions with opportunities for learning and professional development, offering varied projects to develop your skills continuously.
