We are looking for a forward-thinking and detail-oriented Hardware and Firmware Engineer to join our Sensor Systems team. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives at the intersection of electronics design and embedded software development, and who is passionate about building intelligent, connected sensor solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to the full lifecycle of sensor product development—from concept and prototyping to production and support—while staying ahead of emerging technologies in the IoT space.
What you will be doing
* Design and develop embedded hardware systems for sensor-based applications, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
* Develop and maintain firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers and embedded platforms, ensuring robust and efficient operation of sensor systems.
* Integrate and optimize wireless communication technologies such as Wi-Fi, BLE, NB-IoT, Cat M1, GNSS, and 433MHz FSK.
* Collaborate on the development of cloud and mobile communication protocols for seamless data exchange and remote device management.
* Conduct hardware prototyping, debugging, and validation, including sensor calibration and performance testing.
* Ensure designs meet industry standards and certification requirements, including EMC, safety, and environmental compliance.
* Source components and manage BOMs, ensuring supply chain reliability and cost efficiency.
* Provide technical support to production, quality assurance, and sales teams.
* Maintain detailed engineering documentation and contribute to the Engineering Change Note (ECN) process.
* Stay informed on IoT trends, sensor innovations, and emerging technologies, and apply them to product development.
* Participate in cross-functional design reviews and contribute to system architecture decisions.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the evolution of engineering best practices.
Key Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
* Proven experience in hardware design, including schematic and PCB layout (preferably using Proteus PCB Design Suite).
* Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming; experience with Python, embedded Linux, or RTOS is a plus.
* Solid understanding of sensor technologies, signal conditioning, and analog/digital interfacing.
* Experience with IoT platforms, protocols (MQTT, CoAP), and cloud integration (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, etc.).
* Familiarity with edge computing concepts and low-power design techniques.
* Experience developing drivers for display technologies and interfacing with various sensor modules.
* Proficiency in version control systems (Git) and project tracking tools (Jira).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and hands-on approach.
* Passion for innovation and emerging technologies, with a mindset for continuous learning and experimentation.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
