Kent & Medway Mental Health NHS Trust provides a liaison mental health assessment service to the Emergency Department and wards at the county’s acute hospitals. It’s a challenging and rewarding service to work in.
You will be a confident and experienced mental health clinician, working across the acute general hospital to provide mental health assessments, care, advice and training to both the Emergency Departments and in‑patient wards.
The Pembury Liaison Psychiatry Service operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Candidates are expected to work predominantly Monday to Friday, travelling across the Trust in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
* Provide operational leadership and expertise to a team of clinicians who often work alone, ensuring the timely delivery of a safe and effective assessment service to general hospitals for people aged 18+ referred with mental health problems, dementia and co‑morbidity with physical illness.
* Maintain clinical expertise and leadership skills through regular patient contact (minimum one shift per week).
* Ensure systems and processes support staff performance in accordance with Trust objectives.
* Report on and contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and audit of the performance and clinical practice of the liaison service.
* Liaise and work collaboratively with Acute Trust colleagues to promote the interface between acute, specialist inpatient and community services, enhancing patient experience and recovery.
* Coordinate a training programme for the general hospital workforce.
