About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Section Engineer (Earthworks & Drainage) to join our delivery team on the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure programmes, supporting the successful delivery of major earthworks and drainage packages within a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the engineering aspects of earthworks and drainage works, including bulk earthworks, cut & fill, and formation
* Oversee drainage works, including deep drainage, culverts, and attenuation systems
* Supervise Site Engineers and subcontractors to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery
* Ensure all works comply with design specifications, method statements, and ITPs
* Oversee setting out activities, QA documentation, and technical queries
* Coordinate with design, planning, and commercial teams to ensure programme alignment
* Support construction management with progress reporting, risk management, and problem-solving
* Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
About You
* Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
* Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major civil or infrastructure projects
* Strong background in earthworks and drainage – essential
* Excellent understanding of engineering standards, quality assurance, and health & safety
* Confident communicator with strong leadership and coordination skills
* Valid CSCS card and relevant safety certifications
