Volunteering with VoiceAbility is ideal for people who have or want experience in human rights, health, care and wellbeing. We care more about your values and empathy than your level of experience.
Impact and development
You’ll develop skills in communication and confidentiality, add experience and knowledge to your CV, and know you’re making a genuine difference to people’s lives. As a volunteer you’ll receive full training, support from the volunteer team and your local advocates, and paid expenses. Training covers topics such as what is advocacy, an introduction to Social Security Scotland, safeguarding, networking, Salesforce and more.
Required skills and qualities
* Good communication skills – written and verbal
* A basic level of IT literacy – email, documents
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to manage own time and prioritise workload
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Role logistics
The role is hybrid with no fixed office base. Volunteers are expected to work in and around their local area and must be able to travel locally. Volunteers may be asked to meet clients in person for face-to-face support and to travel to local networking events to promote the service.
Travel and support
You’ll receive training and support from the volunteer team and local advocates, and paid expenses. Training topics include what is advocacy, an introduction to Social Security Scotland, safeguarding, networking, Salesforce and more.
Requirements
Minimum age: 18
Volunteering will commence on satisfactory completion of PVG check, right to work check and volunteer training.
Availability and commitment
Availability: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun (morning, afternoon, evening).
Frequency & commitment: 3 hours per week, 6 month commitment.
Eligibility
Volunteers aged 18-25 taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
