Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT) is recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Learning Disability Service in East Sussex.
This is a substantive consultant post working across two established community learning disability teams: Eastbourne, Weald & Downs (based in Uckfield) and Hastings & Rother. The role is split approximately 0.6 WTE in Uckfield and 0.4 WTE in Hastings.
About the role
You will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and ongoing care to adults with a learning disability living in East Sussex, working closely within multidisciplinary community learning disability teams.
The service is supported by an inpatient learning disability unit based at the Selden Centre in Worthing, and you will be part of a Trust-wide Consultant network as well as a Learning Disability specialty peer group, with access to regular academic programmes, CPD forums and administrative support.
You’ll be joining established, experienced teams and working in a service with a strong focus on collaborative, multi-professional practice and high-quality, person-centred care.
Key responsibilities
* Specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment of adults with a learning disability
* Providing expert psychiatric advice to multidisciplinary colleagues
* Working collaboratively with community teams, primary care and acute services
* Supporting timely, appropriate care pathways
* Contributing to service development, teaching and quality improvement
We’re looking for people who have
* Full GMC registration and Specialist Register status (or within six months)
* Approved Clinician status (or ability to achieve)
* Experience working in Learning Disability and/or community mental health services
* Strong clinical, communication and collaborative working skills
* An interest in service development, teaching or research
