Trust Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Trust doctor/ Clinical Fellow (ST3-5 equivalent) in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Fixed‑term 12 months. Candidates must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a license to practice by the intended start date. The post holder will work at a level equivalent to that of a ST3+ trainee and must have completed Foundation competencies or demonstrated equivalent training. Experience at a ST3+ level for at least one year, ideally within the UK, and Basic Life Support training are essential.
Main duties of the job
The post offers broad clinical experience across all areas of the specialty. The appointee will contribute to the obstetrics and gynaecology inpatient and outpatient services, be part of the second on call rota (frequency 1 in 10), and predominantly work at St James University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary. Duties include labour ward work, reviewing obstetric and gynaecology emergencies, caring for antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology inpatients, attending clinics, and attending elective theatres. The role also encourages participation in departmental teaching and quality improvement work.
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree
* Completion of Foundation competencies or equivalent
* Basic Adult Life Support training within the past 12 months
* MRCOG Part 1 competencies equivalent to ST3 training
Experience
* Minimum 1 year at ST3+ level in UK obstetrics and gynaecology
* Competence in lower segment caesarean section and non‑rotational operative vaginal delivery
* Experience reviewing obstetric and gynaecology emergencies and ambulatory care

* Recognise and undertake initial management of acutely ill patients
* Understand research, audit, clinical risk management and evidence‑based practice
