Probation Service Officer
Overview
The job holder will undertake the full range of work with offenders before and after sentence. This includes assessment, sentence implementation, offender management, and producing reports.
Location: Canterbury
Hours: 37 hours
Pay Rate: £21.58 LTD per hour (Umbrella rate), equivalent to £16.00 PAYE per hour
Full Job Description
1. Undertake the full range of offender management tasks with offenders assessed as low or medium risk of harm and support the Probation Officer grade in high-risk cases.
2. Support case management by contributing to the delivery of the Risk Management plan and reporting significant changes related to risk of harm, reoffending, or non-compliance within agreed enforcement procedures.
3. Use computer-based systems to produce, update, and maintain records and documentation within specified timescales.
4. Ensure effective referrals to services and facilities, and communicate with offender management staff, intervention staff, service providers, and external agencies to review progress and associated risks.
5. Conduct prison, home, or alternative location visits as required, following service procedures and policies.
6. Work in court settings, including completing appropriate reports and prosecuting breaches.
Essential Requirements
1. Experience supporting a diverse range of individuals facing social or personal difficulties, including motivating and changing behaviour in groups and individuals.
2. Experience making effective referrals and managing relationships with external agencies to improve outcomes, manage risks, and reduce reoffending.
