Civil Design Engineer
A growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to support the delivery of infrastructure projects within the water and wastewater sector. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging schemes focused on treatment facilities and associated network infrastructure.
The successful candidate will play an integral part in producing high-quality engineering designs, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting project teams throughout the design lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary professionals to develop efficient, sustainable and practical engineering solutions.
The Role
As a Civil Design Engineer, you will contribute to the planning, coordination and technical delivery of water-related infrastructure schemes. Key duties will include:

Producing detailed civil engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment and associated infrastructure projects

Preparing and reviewing technical drawings, layouts and models in coordination with design technicians
*
Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on technical and programme requirements
*
Ensuring all design outputs comply with applicable UK industry standards and regulatory frameworks
*
Providing technical input during project development, including occasional site visits and inspections
*
Identifying and resolving engineering challenges through innovative and cost-effective design approaches
About You
The ideal candidate will combine sound technical knowledge with strong analytical and collaborative skills.
Requirements include:

1–5 years’ experience in civil engineering design, ideally within utilities or water infrastructure
*
Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
*
Understanding of hydraulic design principles, reinforced concrete structures and buried pipeline systems
*
Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or similar tools
*
Familiarity with UK engineering codes, water sector specifications and relevant health and safety standards
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
*
A practical, solution-focused mindset with attention to detail
Location & Working Environment
This position is a hybrid role with the office being in Fleet, with occasional travel required to project sites. You will be part of a collaborative engineering team delivering infrastructure projects across the UK.
