We're delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Band 2 Clinical Support Worker on the Neonatal Unit at Russell's Hall Hospital. Our service puts babies and their families at the heart of everything we do, delivering holistic, compassionate, and individualised care during the most important moments of their lives.

Main duties of the job

Providehigh standardsof cleanliness within the Neonatal Unit, including environmental cleaning as per schedules, audit compliance, and ensuring bed spaces are cleaned each shift and on patient discharge.

Ensure safe storage of equipment and consumables, restocking bed spaces as per the set-up guide.

Maintain safety and security for patients, staffand visitors, including the use of the patient security tagging system.

Maintain and monitor the use of resources to ensure continuous service delivery.

Assistin reducing healthcare-associated infections by adhering to Trust infection-prevention policies.

Support the achievement and maintenance ofhigh standardsof patient care.

Work within your own capabilities while supporting the multidisciplinary team and acting in the best interests of patients and families.

Provide support during procedures andassistwith admissions and discharges, including documentation, observations, and equipment preparation.

Prioritise your own workload effectively.

Person Specification


Qualifications & Education

* Maths and English qualification - GCSE A-D, or Grade 4-9, or Functional Skills Level 1
* Care Certificate or ability to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
* QCF/NVQ Level 2 in healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience


Knowledge & Training

* Ability to recognise limitations of knowledge and competence and practice within these boundaries
* Prepared to undergo further training
* Able to use and update IT systems with patient information
* An understanding of their role within the team


Experience

* Able to assess safety and wellbeing of others while and referring/escalating to other staff as appropriate
* Regular contact with bodily fluids when carrying out interventions
* Frequent moderate/intense effort required for periods of time
* Experience in a healthcare environment
* Manual handing of patient's, equipment and stores


Communication & Relationship Skills

* Evidence of effective communication skills including Verbal Written (legible handwriting) Non-verbal Compassion and respect
* Ability to communicate appropriately with relatives and / or carers
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff / multidisciplinary team
* Positive and enthusiastic approach to work
* Courteous and polite


Planning & Organisational Skills

* Participation in flexible work patterns / shift working required to provide 24hr service to meet the needs of the service
* Flexibility to work across the Health Economy


Analytical & Judgement Skills

* Ability to use own initiative
