About Us
Lewisham Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) provides diagnostic, assessment, treatment, advisory and consultative services for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural disorders. The Horizon team is part of a multidisciplinary service located at the Kaleidoscope Centre, Catford.

Job Summary
We welcome applications from final‑year trainee psychologists and CBT therapists with provisional accreditation with the BABCP, where it looks likely they will achieve full accreditation within the year.
Responsibilities
* Provide psychological and/or psychotherapeutic assessment, formulation and treatment service within the Horizon team.
* Manage a caseload as a Care Coordinator, initiating care planning, reviewing plans and outcomes, and coordinating relevant meetings.
* Utilise outcome measures and service‑user feedback to inform collaborative care planning.
* Support children and young people accessing the Horizon service, including duty services.
* Contribute to team functioning and to a psychologically informed framework for the service.
* Provide clinical supervision to assistant psychologists and, where appropriate, to band 6 staff.
* Consult with colleagues, referrers, GPs and other professionals as required.
* Participate in service evaluation, audit and research.
* Maintain professional standards in line with BABCP/HCPC guidelines and Lewisham CAMHS policies.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Entry‑level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional doctorates, or MSc plus PG Diploma) accepted by the HCPC for registration.
Experience
* Working in a Community CAMHS service as a practitioner or trainee.
* Collaboration with supervisors, service users, carers and MDT in assessment, planning and implementation.
* Experience of clinical assessment, formulation and intervention with children and young people with complex psychological needs.
* Experience supporting diversity within local communities.
* Desirable: Case‑management experience in CAMHS; research project experience.
Skills
* Ability to work under pressure and be reflective in practice.
* Planning and scheduling assessments and interventions for individual clients, groups and carers.
* Consultation skills and sensitive multi‑professional teamwork.
* Administration of psychometric and neuropsychological tests.
* Desirable: Ability to teach and train other professionals; IT skills for research data.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of psychological therapy theory and clinical application; assessment and psychometrics.
* Understanding of key legislation relevant to CAMHS.
* Knowledge of therapeutic approaches and systemic models relevant to discipline.
* Awareness of factors affecting acceptability and accessibility of mental health care.
* Desirable: Research‑informed methods of assessment and treatment.
