Support Worker – HomelessnessSalary: £29,452.57 per annumHours: 6 week rolling rotaContract: Temp (3 months) Location: Swindon About the Role: We are looking for a committed and motivated Support Worker to join a dynamic team within a short-stay service that helps individuals move towards independent living. This service supports people to overcome barriers, build resilience, and achieve their long-term goals. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a tangible difference in people’s lives. You will work directly with individuals facing homelessness and other complex needs, providing structured, person-centred support.Working Pattern: We work on a 6-week rolling rota of early shift 07:45 till 16:15 and late shifts 12:15 till 20:25, this includes weekend and bank holidays.Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver person-centred support, empowering individuals to progress on their recovery journey and achieve sustainable independence
* Build strong, therapeutic relationships using a psychologically informed and trauma-sensitive approach
* Facilitate client meetings and encourage active participation in decision-making
* Develop, implement, and regularly review individual support plans within required timeframes
* Work one-to-one with clients to achieve agreed goals and positive outcomes
* Ensure clients are supported to maximise benefits and manage personal finances in line with their plans
* Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver effective in-house support programmes
* Coordinate and delegate tasks to assistant support workers to ensure support plans are carried out effectively
* Identify and refer to appropriate external services where additional support needs cannot be met internally
* Complete and review client assessments, including risk assessments, ensuring a safe and supportive environment
About You:
* It is essential that you have experience of working with individuals who have experienced homelessness or have been at high risk of homelessness.
* Knowledge of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness and vulnerability
* An understanding of psychologically informed environments and trauma-aware practice
* Confidence in decision-making and the ability to take initiative
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Competency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications
