Pharmacy Distribution Assistant
Pay Band: Band 2 £24,169 pro rata (based on 37.5 hrs)
Location: Oxford University Hospitals – PPDU Cowley, Oxford, OX4 2PG

Job Summary
The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust supplies medicines across the Trust. As a Pharmacy Distribution Assistant you will support the Pharmacy Purchasing and Distribution Team, working from the warehouse on the Unipart site in Cowley and rotating across all Oxford Trust sites.
Responsibilities
* Carry out Pharmacy ward top‑up services and assemble ward and dispensary picking lists.
* Pick, pack and deliver appropriate goods to wards and departments.
* Check and put away Pharmacy deliveries, restock shelves and manage stock rotation in the store area.
* Process returns and waste medicines in line with departmental policy and ensure disposal of Pharmacy waste in accordance with guidelines.
* Print stock‑to‑follow and ward stock lists, checking expiry dates and ensuring cupboard standard.
* Answer telephones, deal with queries and print stock lists as required.
* Assist the Senior Distribution Assistant in maintaining a tidy, safe and efficient working environment.
* Involve in returning goods from wards, entering return lists into the pharmacy computer system and checking return lists.
* Participate in improving the distribution service in conjunction with senior staff.
* Become accredited to check boxes assembled by other staff and work towards attainment of BTEC Level 2 in Principles and Practices for Pharmacy Support Staff.
* Receive goods from suppliers: unpack, check against original orders and delivery notes, verify stock condition, match items against purchase orders, and restock shelves ensuring appropriate storage conditions.
* Receiving goods into the pharmacy system and carrying out other reasonable duties as assigned.

Desirable
* GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
* NVQ2 in Pharmaceutical Science.
* Previous experience in a pharmaceutical field.
* Previous experience in a receipt and distribution environment.
Health & Safety & Other Policies
* Work in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, statutory regulations and Trust policies.
* Follow infection control policies, ensuring hand decontamination and attending mandatory training.
* Uphold safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults.
* Complete annual information governance training.
* Report serious incidents and near misses as per the Trust Incident Reporting Policy.
