Operations Support Manager 12 months Fixed Term Job Summary NHS Blood and Transplant is a Special Health Authority, dedicated to saving and improving lives through a wide range of services to the NHS. It has a wide and diverse remit including, blood donation, organ and tissue donation and stem cells. NHSBT could not deliver these services without the support of our frontline Blood Donation teams. You will make sure that we identify any opportunities to improve our ability to collect blood products and use continuous improvement methodology to realise these opportunities. You will be an important part of making sure Blood Donation and NHSBT are able to save and improve the lives of patients. You will be part of a supportive team and will be actively encouraged to share your ideas and thoughts on how we successfully embed processes and ways of working, to ensure that we are able to deliver and improve upon the service we provide donors and patients. This role also allows you the opportunity to work with colleagues from all levels of the organisation up to and including the Executive Directors. Main duties of the job In this role within Blood Donation (BD) you will work to support the achievement of organisational and directorate objectives. In particular, to work with the Assistant Director (AD) in the delivery of objectives relating to blood and components collection activity, continuance improvement and emergency response. Your responsibilites will include: Advising the Assistant Director on performance indicators, business as usual improvement initiatives, pathways, national guidance, and policies. Leading the development, motivation, and inspiration of the Donor Records and Continuous Improvement teams, demonstrating adherence to NHSBT s core purpose and behaviours, and ensuring that regulatory targets and compliance against quality, risk and governance standards are met. Fostering excellent communication and working relationships with Assistant Directors, Heads of Regions, their teams and stakeholders from across the Blood Supply Chain. Delivering key key performance indicators and other targets within Blood Donation Collections, ensuring that the department is achieving against the Blood Supply Strategy. Driving and leading the development of continuous improvement plans to improve performance and the service we provide to our donors, patients and frontline colleagues About You Experience and Knowledge Experience of developing service opportunities, through business planning, monitoring, & leading the implementation of change management processes Experience of planning over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjusting plans and resources accordingly Experience of identifying performance trends and root causes of performance issues Leadership and management experience Experience of developing effective performance interventions Knowledge of change management and service redesign Qualifications and Training Educated to Masters level in relevant business subject, supported with post qualifying experience OR substantial equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience to Masters level (see Experience and Knowledge) Please view the attached recruitment profile which is a summary of the detailed Job Description and Person Specification for the full personal attributes we require for the role.
