BSL Teaching Assistant – Specialist Provision, Gateshead
Protocol Education is recruiting for a specialist provision in Gateshead that is looking for a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September.
This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with hearing impairments and help them achieve their full potential in a supportive educational environment.
Key responsibilities
* Providing communication support for deaf and hearing-impaired pupils
* Using BSL to support learning and classroom participation
* Assisting teachers with classroom activities and resources
* Promoting pupil independence and confidence
* Liaising with families, teachers and specialist professionals
* Recording and reporting on pupil progress
Requirements
* BSL Level 2 or higher
* Experience supporting children or young people is beneficial
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A caring, patient and adaptable approach
* Commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
