About the Service
We are recruiting on behalf of a small, Ofsted-registered residential children’s home providing care and accommodation for up to three children and young people aged 8–17 (on admission).
The home offers a stable, nurturing, and highly structured environment, focused on consistency, emotional security, and positive relationship building.
The approach is child-centred and therapeutic, with behaviour understood as communication and support focused on helping young people feel safe, regulated, and able to progress at their own pace.
This is a small, close-knit service where every member of staff plays a key role in creating stability and positive daily experiences for the young people.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and confident Team Leader to support the management team in the day-to-day running of the home.
You will take responsibility for leading shifts, guiding staff practice, and ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and professionalism are consistently maintained.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be actively involved in both operational delivery and direct support to young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead shifts and provide clear direction to the residential care team
* Support the delivery of individual care plans and support strategies
* Ensure safeguarding and child protection standards are consistently met
* Supervise, support, and motivate staff during shifts
* Maintain accurate records including daily logs and incident reporting
* Promote a consistent, nurturing, and therapeutic approach to care
* Work collaboratively with external professionals and agencies
* Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
* Support the management team with operational duties
About You
* NVQ Level 3 / Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Experience within a children’s residential care setting
* Previous experience in a senior support or team leader role (preferred)
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and regulatory standards
* Confident in leading shifts and supporting staff
* Calm, consistent, and resilient under pressure
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
