Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
The Enterprise Risk Manager is responsible for establishing, embedding and continuously improving the Bioeconomy Science Institute's (BSI) enterprise risk management (ERM) and business continuity frameworks.
Reporting to the Chief Financial & Operating Officer, this permanent role may be based at our Lincoln, Palmerston North, Auckland, Rotorua or Ruakura (Hamilton) site.
This role provides second-line oversight, assurance and coordination across enterprise risk and organisational resilience. It does not lead emergency response or crisis management but ensures frameworks, governance and accountabilities are clear, aligned and effective.
Key Responsibilities Include
Developing, maintaining and maturing our ERM framework, policy and enterprise risk register.
Supporting the Leadership Team, Audit and Risk Subcommittee (ARC) and Board through high-quality risk reporting and insights.
Developing and overseeing the business continuity management framework, ensuring plans are developed, maintained and tested.
Facilitating risk and resilience discussions at executive and governance level.
Governing internal policy frameworks, registers and approval processes.
Maintaining the organisation's conflict of interest framework
Ō pūmanawa | About you
You will bring extensive senior-level experience (typically 8–10+ years) in enterprise risk management, governance, assurance or related advisory roles within complex organisations.
A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred.
You Will Also Demonstrate
Experience working with executive teams, Audit and Risk Committees or Boards.
Proven success designing and maturing ERM frameworks aligned to recognised regulatory codes and best practice.
Strong experience in business continuity and organisational resilience governance.
Ability to prepare clear, decision-focused papers for governance forums.
Advanced facilitation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
High levels of integrity, discretion and professional judgement.
