NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
Fancy a change of scenery and an opportunity to further your career in NHS Highland? The stunning Scottish Highlands is a superb place to live and work, and Inverness is a vibrant city with many beautiful places on its doorstep.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated Speech and Language Therapist wishing to develop and consolidate skills in adult acquired disorders of communication and swallowing.
You will join a friendly and dynamic team of 10 Speech and Language Therapists based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, serving the North Highland Area, covering a range of adult acquired specialisms. Raigmore Hospital is a busy general hospital providing comprehensive services to the Highlands community.
Sessions mainly involve communication rehabilitation for inpatients in the Stroke Unit and Neuro Rehabilitation Unit at Raigmore. There will also be outpatient sessions covering neurological, voice, head and neck surgery, and fluency cases. You will have access to Videofluoroscopy, a Joint Voice and Swallowing Clinic, AAC resources, and specialist support for Laryngectomy patients. You will also assist with all specialist services, gaining valuable experience for career development. In-house Dysphagia Training will be provided.
The SLT Team is committed to professional development, supervision, and quality improvement.
Requirements include a BSc or equivalent in Speech Pathology and Therapeutics, registration with the HCPC, and an interest in adult acquired disorders. RCSLT registration is preferred. A driving license is ideally held. This position is suitable for students due to graduate in summer 2025.
