We are looking for a Ward Manager who will provide strong clinical leadership to our dedicated ward team of staff nurses and healthcare assistants. You will not just manage from behind a desk; you will set the standard for exemplary practice each day.

As Ward Manager, You Will

* Provide hands-on clinical leadership alongside our senior staff nurses
* Ensure safe, effective daily management of the ward
* Supervise and support staff development, including rostering, recruitment, and team growth
* Drive ongoing improvements by implementing and benchmarking best practice
* Collaborate closely with senior clinicians as part of our multidisciplinary team

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Ward Manager to lead our team in an inpatient setting. You will provide both clinical and operational leadership to ensure high standards of care. Our ward focuses on creating an environment that supports reablement and recovery through a holistic approach. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care, collaborating with professionals, carers, and community staff to support safe and timely discharges.

In This Role, You Will

* Take operational and clinical responsibility for the team
* Manage and deliver quality, evidence-based care and interventions
* Support service users and their carers with their health and social care needs
* Help develop services and practices to maintain high standards of care

You will be expected to deliver safe and effective care at all times in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Code of Professional Conduct.

Working for our organisation

We are an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability. We are a people organisation and people matter to us. Over 4,000 people make up the Trust, including doctors, nurses, therapists, admin and support staff. We work in people’s homes, in community clinics and bases. Person specification

Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience Essential criteria

* Level 1 Nurse with current NMC registration
* Previous Ward management experience
* Educated to Diploma / Degree level with evidence of appropriate post registration skills or equivalent experience
* Modules relating to specialty field (Elderly care, rehabilitation, palliative care or similar)
* Current clinical assessment and teaching qualification

Desirable criteria

* Experience of managing personnel issues

Practical Skills and Intellectual Skills (Including any special knowledge) Essential criteria

* Proven written, oral and electronic communication skills including ability to deal with challenging and sensitive situations
* Analytical skills for complex situations
* High level of clinical skills and competencies
* Budget management skills
