Job Introduction
Senior Content Editor – Saga Publishing. In this pivotal leadership role you will shape engaging, multi‑platform experiences for our rapidly growing over‑50 audience across print, digital, newsletters, podcasts and social channels. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Content and Editorial Director, commissioning and nurturing outstanding work from in‑house writers and freelancers to deliver memorable, high‑quality copy that our audience loves.
Role Responsibility
* Work closely with the Head of Content and Editorial Director to implement content strategy across all channels.
* Commission and edit content to grow the multi‑platform audience, increase engagement, maximise revenue and drive traffic to the website and other business units.
* Review and edit content before publication for factual accuracy, legal safety and alignment with brand standards.
* Maintain editorial excellence with a consistent tone of voice for this award‑winning brand.
* Analyse content performance metrics and use them to inform editorial strategy and enhance engagement.
* Assist in managing the editorial team and support them to produce high‑quality content that drives subscriptions, online traffic, newsletter sign‑ups, social media follows and app & podcast downloads.
* Stay up to date with industry trends, audience behaviours and best practice in content.
* Assist the Head of Content in securing interviews with high‑profile cover stars, leveraging contacts and liaising with agents and publicists.
* Commission skilled writers to conduct celebrity interviews focused on securing newsworthy and interesting quotes that interest readers and attract media attention.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a credible editor / content manager with compelling ideas, strong commissioning and editing skills, and a proven track record in national magazines or newspapers. You have established media relationships and can bring a wider celebrity booking reach. You may have previously worked as a Deputy Head of Content or Senior Commissioning Editor.

* Excellent writing, commissioning and editing skills – strong attention to detail.
* Flexible approach, willing to take on additional responsibilities.
* Previous experience on national magazines and/or newspapers.
Desirable
* Degree educated, ideally with a postgraduate qualification in journalism.
