We are looking for new volunteers to join our Theatre and Anaesthetic Department Team at the Cumberland Infirmary.
Under the direction of the theatres domestic and nursing staff, the role of volunteer is to launder named, surgical hats in line with Trust infection control procedures and sort them into personalised compartments throughout the Theatre and Anaesthetic Department at Cumberland Infirmary
To be a volunteer, you need to be over the age of 18 years of age and living within the local Cumberland area
The role of this post is to:
Offer a same day laundry service of surgical hats in line with Trust infection control procedures and sort them into personalised compartments
Record all items that enter and exit the laundry service ensuring they are clearly identified and returned to the correct compartment
To clean and care for the laundry equipment including disinfection of surfaces and checking filters
To understand and adhere to strict patient and staff confidentiality policies
To report any issues or obstacles to the appointed supervisor/coordinator
Train, shadow and mentor new volunteers to the service to assist in their knowledge and skills to ensure they are encouraged and confident with this role

Shift times: 9 – 12 h
Days: CIC - Monday, Wednesday, Friday (excluding public holidays)
Days: WCH – Tuesday, Thursday

Disclosure and Barring Service:
On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.
The changes mean that:
youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
