Principal Fire Engineer
Osborn Associates is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer to join our growing Fire Engineering team in London, Manchester or Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated fire engineer looking to take a leading role in project delivery, client management and team development.
This role would suit someone with strong technical expertise and the confidence to lead projects, support junior team members and contribute to the continued growth of a busy consultancy environment.
The role
As a Principal Fire Engineer, you will lead the delivery of fire engineering projects from inception through to completion, providing technical direction and maintaining high standards of quality. You will also support client relationships, mentor developing engineers and contribute to the wider success of the team.
Key responsibilities
* Lead fire engineering and fire strategy projects across multiple sectors
* Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and design advice
* Manage project programmes, fees and client expectations
* Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, approving authorities and wider design teams
* Support and mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the team
* Assist with quality assurance and technical review of project outputs
* Support business development activity, including proposals and client engagement
* Help strengthen the presence and reputation of the fire engineering team across all offices
About you
* Strong consultancy experience in fire engineering
* Proven ability to manage projects and deliver high-quality technical outputs
* Good understanding of UK fire safety legislation, guidance and design practice
* Strong communication and client-facing skills
* Experience in mentoring or managing junior team members
* Chartered status or working towards chartership is desirable
