The role
As a Quality Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of our Fleet Maintenance Projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety across our submarine platforms. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national defence while developing your career in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
1. Applying quality records processes to Fleet Maintenance Projects, including authorising Work Orders and auditing documentation
2. Delivering quality improvement projects and supporting supply chain quality assurance
3. Conducting investigations and reporting on product safety incidents
4. Delivering quality-related training, including Nuclear Submarine QA and Product Safety Awareness courses
5. Supporting business areas in line with the Quality Support Model
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday with flexible start and finish times and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Quality Engineer
6. Using quality management tools and techniques
7. Applying risk management and root cause analysis methods
8. Experience with ISO Quality Management Systems is highly advantageous but not essential.
Qualifications for the Quality Engineer
9. HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent
10. CQI Level 3 Certificate and Chartered Member of CQI – desirable
