About the Role
This full‑time post is available from 1 June 2026 on a permanent basis.
The starting salary will be from to £43,482 on Grade F, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
This is a campus‑based role and will include some evenings and weekends (7pm weekdays and 5pm weekends). The post is to work one weekend in four.

Responsibilities
* Short‑term counselling, triage and liaison with GPs, NHS, mental health services and the Wellbeing team.
* First point of contact for students experiencing acute emotional distress.
* Provide ongoing therapeutic interventions for students with emotional instability, including in the Wellbeing Centre, off‑site, remote services and web provision.
* Close liaison and joint working across the Wellbeing Service to support students with a range of disabilities and liaise with other university staff and external agencies (e.g., Student Finance, Access Centres, GP, statutory mental health services and voluntary sector agencies).
* Commitment to the advancement of inclusive practice and widening access to the student community.
* Coordinate and manage cases, assess and manage risk, and contribute to the advancement of stepped therapy services within a multi‑disciplinary team context.
Qualifications
* Highly qualified and experienced practitioner able to provide mental health support and advice to students, and give a range of clinical interventions.
* Additional qualification in counselling and accreditation by the BACP (or working towards accreditation).
* Demonstrated breadth of therapeutic and clinical expertise, with the ability to transfer skills to a higher education context.
* Skilled practitioner with a sensitive and adaptable approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to negotiate and influence across all levels.
Additional Information
Work schedule includes evenings and weekends, with one weekend in four. DBS check is required.
