Overview
At Suffolk County Council, Lowestoft Children\'s Home, we are looking for passionate Youth Support Practitioners to join our team. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment for vulnerable children and young people. This is a fixed-shifts, part-time role based on a rota at a solo placement home for a child aged 11-17 years old, onsite in Lowestoft.
Salary: £32,887 per annum pro rata, plus additional payment for rostered sleep-in duties (see benefits). Hourly rate: £17.04 (includes £14.82 hourly rate plus 15% unsociable hours allowance). Hours per week: 22 and 18.5 hours (per rota). Status: Permanent.
Role includes working fixed shifts to provide 24/7 coverage and supporting children to achieve positive outcomes in education, health, and social activities, while building safe, trusting relationships.
You will be joining a team focused on round-the-clock care in a home-from-home environment.
You will be responsible for
* promoting the development of children and young people within the environment
* safeguarding all children from threats to their health and welfare
* maintaining a safe and sensitive atmosphere that meets the needs of the children
* developing and maintaining good relationships with parents, social workers, teachers, and other professionals
* maintaining accurate and detailed records
* delivering effective communications within the Home and with outside agencies and the community
* assisting in planning and implementing care plans for children in collaboration with other professionals
* administering children\'s medication in accordance with procedures
* attending and participating in team meetings and supervisions
You will need
* a willingness to undertake training as required to update knowledge and skills
* to hold a full and current driving licence with access to personal transport or meet mobility requirements through other means
* to be able to work fixed shifts to provide 24/7 coverage
