Role Title: Operations Leader
Location: UK, Ashton-Under-Lyne
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operations Leader to join our team in Ashton. The Operations Leader will ensure safety, quality, service, cost management, and people development while striving for operational excellence. They will collaborate with functions such as EHS, Quality, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and HR. Reporting to the Operations Director, the role is part of the UK Industrials Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure a safe work environment and culture, enforcing policies and procedures.
2. Maintain adherence to quality standards and regulatory compliance.
3. Operate in an environmentally responsible manner.
4. Set and deliver financial and non-financial budgets and forecasts.
5. Monitor production costs, identify improvements, and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
6. Provide leadership and resources to meet product and service excellence, customer specifications, and OTIF targets.
7. Establish and track KPIs to assess manufacturing performance.
8. Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency.
9. Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
10. Manage resources efficiently, including materials, labor, equipment, and energy.
11. Lead, coach, and develop the team to meet performance metrics.
12. Report plant performance regularly to senior leadership, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
13. Drive cultural transformation aligned with Mativ Values.
14. Collaborate with HR on training, career development, succession planning, and employee relations.
Skills and Experience
1. Commitment to safety and compliance.
2. Understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and cost optimization.
3. Proficiency with manufacturing software, ERP/MRP systems (SAP), and data analysis tools.
4. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is advantageous.
5. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
6. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
7. Leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate a diverse team.
8. Manufacturing and leadership experience, with Lean Manufacturing expertise.
