Acting as the organisation’s strategic lead, the Chairperson will play a central role in defining and delivering our vision, steering the board, supporting our dedicated volunteer team, and representing PFP externally. You will have the freedom to make a lasting impact, develop new partnerships, and lead growth in a challenging and fast-changing environment. What are we looking for?
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Proven experience of leading at a senior level — whether in a charity, public sector, or commercial environment — with a strong track record of driving strategy and growth. Experience chairing or working closely with Boards or senior leadership teams, with an understanding of good governance and accountability. Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the confidence to represent an organisation externally and cultivate influential networks. Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and the ability to turn vision into action. Passion for social justice, inclusion, and the power of storytelling to create change. Self-motivated, organised, and able to lead in a largely remote, volunteer-led environment.
What will you be doing?
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide visionary leadership and drive the strategic direction of PFP, ensuring the organisation remains impactful, innovative, and aligned with its mission and values. Act as the primary ambassador for PFP, representing the charity externally and championing our work to stakeholders, funders, and the wider public. Lead monthly Board meetings, ensuring effective governance and collaboration across the Board of Trustees, Directors, and volunteers. Inspire and support the wider PFP team in delivering on organisational priorities, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and inclusivity. Spearhead fundraising and partnership development efforts, actively building relationships with trusts, foundations, corporate partners, and donors to grow the charity’s income and reach. Oversee the development and implementation of strategic plans, ensuring PFP adapts to emerging opportunities and challenges in a fast-changing global landscape. Write and deliver the Chair’s report for the Annual Report and provide final sign-off on the document.
