Job Overview About the Role We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and compassionate leader to join our senior leadership team as Deputy Headteacher with a key focus on safeguarding and pastoral care. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and academic success of all our pupils. Key Responsibilities Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring robust safeguarding policies and practices are in place and consistently followed. Lead on all aspects of child protection, liaising with external agencies, staff, and families as required. Support the Headteacher in the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school. Line manage pastoral and safeguarding teams, including Deputy DSLs and Inclusion staff. Monitor and evaluate safeguarding data, trends, and interventions to inform school improvement. Contribute to the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan. Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Person Specification Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and substantial teaching experience. Proven leadership experience at senior or middle leadership level. Extensive knowledge of safeguarding legislation, guidance, and best practice. Experience as a DSL or Deputy DSL is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, staff, and families.
