We are looking for a dynamic and creative Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Inpatient Clinical Lead & Research Nurse to our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), with an average 4 days a week working with the PICU team and 1 day a week designated for research - though there is some flexibility around this. You'll be working 4 shifts a week - a mixture of earlies, lates or nights as we have a rota for our shift pattern.
Dedicated to making a difference to the lives of young people at a vulnerable stage of their illness, you'll be joining our team of nurses, doctors, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, family therapists, and dieticians.,
Please note that this role attracts an additional allowance of £1475 per annum/pro-rata on top of the salary offered.
We'll need you to be either and RMN or RNLD, and you will need to have an interest in Positive Behaviour Support as this will be the model implemented on the ward, as well as an enthusiasm for research.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual who is energetic and enthusiastic about working collaboratively with young people and their families, offering containment and support to the wider nursing team. You should be committed to utilising acute nursing skills at the highest level to ensure the least restrictive care possible is being delivered.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside the ward manager and be involved in the development of the nursing team who will be working on the PICU and the wider development of the CAMHS PICU service. Alongside this you will be involved in research that focuses on CAMHS inpatient services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The unit is committed to teaching/training and providing evidence-based care. Being involved in research for adolescent inpatient care will be a vital part of the role.
The team offers a comprehensive induction package and training programme for all new staff including a bespoke week of adolescent mental health teaching, PBS training and a 3 day DBT skills based training.

Qualifications/Knowledge
Essential criteria
12. RMN/RNLD
13. Training or specialist interest in a therapeutic area e.g. CBT, Family Therapy
14. Training in Positive Behaviour Support
Desirable criteria
15. A good understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Experience
Essential criteria
16. Understanding of the effects of mental illness on young people and their families.
17. Significant experience in an adolescent, acute or PICU setting
