Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Foundation NHS Trust are pleased to accept applications from experienced consultant psychiatrists with knowledge of and passion for neurodevelopmental conditions to join an expanding service for adults with ADHD across Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team the role involves the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in adults, including young people aged 16+. With a principal focus on people with more complex presentations, successful candidates will be responsible for initiating, titrating and optimising medication as well as proving on going review on patients on treatment and assessments for young people transferring from paediatric or CYP services. Post holders will be expected to provide leadership to both the MDT and other Trust colleagues, as well as having a specific remit of advice and consultation to the newly developing specialist primary care offer for ADHD in Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East. The post holders will also be expected to contribute to service development and improvement.

The roles will involve undertaking clinics at locations across Cheshire as well as attendance at St Catherine’s Hospital for team meetings and training. Requests for flexible working arrangements will be reviewed on an individual basis, in line with Trust policy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to provide advice and support to other disciplines in the team and working in close and effective partnership with them. The post holder will also be expected to make referrals to other services and specialists as required.

In addition to support to MDT colleagues, advice and consultation to primary care and specialist mental health services are essential components of the role.

The post holder will jointly be responsible for monitoring of specific physical health care aspects of patients under the care of the service where appropriate. Travel to clinic locations across Cheshire West and Chester East is essential, in addition to attendance at the Stein Centre for meetings and training.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to quality improvement and service development to enhance the outcomes of the ADHD Service for all.

The post holder is expected to:

· Provide clinical leadership to the team.

· Provide consultation and input in Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.

· Ensure liaison and collaborative working with other services/agencies.

· Ensure appropriate implementation of duties under the Mental Health Act.

· Ensure multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working.

Person specification


Qualifications


Essential criteria

* MbChB, MBBS or equivalent
* Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
* A CCST/CCT in Psychiatry or the candidate is within 6 months of completing their CCT
* Experience of working with services users with a Neurodevelopmental disorder in particular ADHD
* Registered with the Royal College of Psychiatrists for CPD or willing to apply for such


Desirable criteria

* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Additional Clinical or post-graduate qualification


Eligibilty


Essential criteria

* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment


Desirable criteria

* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

* Excellent knowledge in specialty
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
* Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty

* Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
* Good communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team


Desirable criteria

* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
