What you'll be doing
Role purpose
1. A good knowledge of quantity surveying duties and will have a successful track record in performing these duties.
2. With support from more senior members of the commercial team, they will manage the costs of the works and ensure that their part of the project meets legal and quality standards.
3. They will, for their area of responsibility, be also responsible for the effective engagement and management of our supply chain.
4. Typically they will have a quantity surveying degree or be in the final stages of achieving the same on a part-time basis.
Who we're looking for
As a Quantity Surveyor, your main responsibilities will be:
5. Gather data & carry out research on current construction costs
6. Measure, record & value work supervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
7. Seek out, locate and assemble pre and post contract documentation, complimented with the necessary administration skills.
8. Be responsible for weekly and monthly works programmes
9. Awareness of different programme formats
10. Use the companys ERP System and BMS systems
11. Collation of Cost and Value Information
12. Preparation of Cost reconciliation statements
13. Collect information required to specify procurement requirements
14. Record and document information including registration of interest
15. Understand the steps / documentation required
16. Collation of cost and value information
17. Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors
18. Working towards professional membership from the RICS, ICES or CIOB
The following experience/qualifications are required:
19. Must be a team player but also able to work on own initiative;
20. Highways maintenance experience;
21. Must have a working knowledge of main forms of Contract including NEC & JCT;
22. Understanding of procurement practices and forms of main and sub-contract;
23. Customer / account management including proven communication skills.
