Are you ready to use your skills to make a difference? Thames Valley Police is expanding its Digital Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) as part of a multi-year transformation to deliver a forward‑looking, accredited digital forensics service that supports effective crime investigation for TVP and external organisations.
We are creating opportunities to join the Digital Portfolio of the FIU. This position is for Digital Forensic Investigators based in Kidlington, Oxfordshire (eventually moving to Bicester, Oxfordshire in Spring/Summer 2026).
Forensics hub development is highlighted by TVP news articles and our ongoing centre construction celebrations.
Responsibilities
* Undertake forensic examinations of mobile phones, computers and other electronic devices in accordance with NPCC guidelines and court‑approved investigation techniques.
* Provide high‑quality written and oral evidence that can be presented to the Crown Prosecution Service and at court as an expert witness.
* Work on challenging cases and collaborate with Major Crime, the Online Child Abuse Investigation Team, Serious Organised Crime and other high‑level departments.
* Produce accurate contemporaneous records and manage workload with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines under pressure.
Qualifications
* Digital Forensic experience or related field; a digital forensics degree is desirable.
* Experience with computer/mobile phone forensic techniques/software (e.g., XWays, Axiom, Cellebrite, XRY, GrayKey).
* Familiarity with database structures/formats such as SQL, SQLite, ESE, plist and XML.
* Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others across the forensic portfolio.
* Ability to engage with ISO accreditation requirements and FSR Codes of Practice and Conduct.
Additional requirements: a full UK driving licence is considered essential due to flexible hours and lone working conditions; enhanced vetting is required as part of TVP posts.
