Group Leader Engineering Delivery Lead (Non-Nuclear)
Let us introduce the role:
The Group Leader Engineering (Delivery) reports directly to the Head of Engineering for our Production and Assets team, which comprises approximately 1000 employees, and through them to the Executive Director for Engineering at AWE. In this role, you will be accountable for the delivery, performance, and quality within your area, implementing the overall engineering strategy and holding delegated design authority. This is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise and leadership ability to deliver strategic goals and objectives.
You will need gravitas, resilience, and passion to engage with and influence senior levels to deliver our programmes from cradle to grave.
Key Accountabilities:
* Be a key member of the Delivery Unit Leadership Team, establishing and delivering a holistic strategy including supply chain management to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and quality, ensuring fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
* Lead engagement with the Supply Chain to generate, manage, and oversee maintenance contracts, including technical requirements documents (TRDs).
* Lead engineering activities and governance across the Delivery Unit portfolio, ensuring delivery on time, within quality standards, and budget.
* Work with the Head of Engineering Delivery to ensure the engineering demand plan is realistic and achievable.
* Be accountable for task management and performance management of embedded engineers, and support recruitment and training efforts.
* Provide information to support staff performance evaluations.
* Provide inspirational leadership to multidisciplinary teams with diverse skills to foster high performance.
* Act as the Senior Accountable Design Authority.
* Lead engineering regulatory interfaces to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
* Proven track record in driving delivery, continuous improvement, and performance, focusing on engineering strategy, technical direction, and capability development.
* Ability to lead high-performing engineering teams, challenge methodologies, and embrace innovation.
* Experience managing Supply Chain contracts and TRDs.
* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational skills.
* Ability to lead through transformation and change.
* Experience fostering a positive safety culture.
* Experience collaborating with external stakeholders and raising the profile of AWE.
* Financial management skills.
* Chartered Membership of a relevant professional institution.
* Technical ability to act as Senior Accountable Design Authority.
