Overview
Consultant in Medical Oncology - Lung 8PA plus on call 0.1PA. This post presents an opportunity to drive an expanding cancer service in the Lung team. The Lung oncology team is based at the CCC-L building with clinics at Central and North sites and some consultations held remotely. This post is part-time (8PA).
Whilst advertised as a Medical Oncologist, applications from a Clinical Oncologist will be accepted and the job plan amended accordingly if successful.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the leadership of the Lung service and to the delivery of the service to the Central (CCCL) and Northern sectors.
* Contribute to and support the wider research programme for the Lung in Liverpool.
* Participate in educational programmes for trainees.
There is a broad multi-disciplinary team to support patients through their cancer journey, including inpatient and outpatient staff, specialist oncology nurses, palliative care, social work, psychology, dietetics, pharmacy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Strong communication, teamwork and high-quality clinical opinion are essential. Participation in the Trust consultant appraisal system and Royal College CPD programme is expected. Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be eligible within six months of interview.

Essential
Qualifications
* Full and Specialist registration (and a license to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or eligible for registration within six months of interview
* FRCR (or equivalent)
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: a) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) with proposed date within 6 months of interview; b) CESR; c) European Community Rights
Desirable
* Relevant certificate of training in communication
* Higher degree (PhD or MD) or evidence of equivalent research training/experience
Clinical Experience
* Experience of specialist training in management of Lymphoma and Urology malignancies
* Experience of managing patients on clinical trials
* Experience of clinical audit
Desirable
* Post-CCT experience in management of Lymphoma and Urology malignancies
Teaching
* Ability to teach all grades of clinical staff, including trainees
* Experience teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
* Experience supervising medical trainees
Management and Administrative
* Experience and evidence of collaborative work across clinical network groups and multidisciplinary teams
* Development of clinical pathways
* Experience and evidence of service improvement
* Insight into managing and leading clinical teams
Desirable
* Experience of budget management
