As a Deputy Emergency Planning Manager, you will provide emergency planning expertise to existing operations and new projects, locally and across the Growth area. You will help ensure effective emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.

You will report directly to the Site Emergency Planning Manager. You will be based onsite at Springfields Fuel Site.


Responsibilities

* Support regulatory interactions related to emergency planning, including Regulatory Evidenced Demonstration Exercises (REDEs).
* Create, implement, and regularly review emergency plans and associated documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and effective risk mitigation.
* Support the Emergency Services Safety Case, including ongoing updates and operational compliance.
* Ensure emergency response teams at the Springfields site are trained and ready to respond to emergencies.
* Design, deliver, and evaluate emergency training and exercises to test plans and team readiness.
* Manage the Emergency Control Centre (ECC) and all emergency equipment, ensuring a constant state of operational readiness and completion of maintenance.
* Help resolve regulatory issues related to emergency planning.
* Engage positively with internal business leaders, regulators, and external emergency services.
* Prepare emergency planning reports and supporting documentation.
* Attend and contribute to key stakeholder and partner meetings.


Qualifications

* A degree (or equivalent) in Emergency Planning or a related discipline, or relevant professional or vocational experience demonstrating progression through responsible roles within scientific, engineering, or regulated environments.
* Background in emergency response within a high‑hazard industry, such as Nuclear, Upper Tier COMAH, or an equivalent highly regulated sector.
* Working knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and standards, including REPPIR, COMAH, JESIP, and ONR requirements.
* Proven experience responding to, or managing, emergency situations.
* Proven capability in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining emergency and contingency plans.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with emergency services, regulators, voluntary agencies, and local authorities.
* Experience operating within a nuclear facility or a similarly highly regulated operating environment.
* Ability to plan, prepare, and deliver effective emergency training sessions and emergency response exercises.
