Overview
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Registered Manager to lead our Ofsted-regulated Children’s Residential Home in Peterborough, supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the residential home, ensuring a high standard of care for all children and young people.
* Ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted requirements, the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.
* Provide effective leadership to the care team, including recruitment, supervision, training, and development.
* Promote a person-centred and inclusive approach that supports the individual needs of children with learning disabilities.
* Develop and maintain effective care plans tailored to the needs of each child, working closely with families and professionals.
* Foster a positive safeguarding culture and ensure all staff understand and follow safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Ensure accurate record-keeping, compliance with policies, and readiness for inspections.
* Manage home budgets and contribute to the strategic development of the service.
* Maintain strong working relationships with local authorities, healthcare providers, schools, and external agencies.
Essential Requirements
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent/working towards).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential setting within the last 5 years, including 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
* Experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and/or complex health needs.
* Sound knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding legislation.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (or willingness to undergo one).
* Full UK driving licence (preferred due to location and responsibilities).
Desirable
* Experience managing an Ofsted inspection.
* Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or other therapeutic care models.
* First aid training, MAPA/Team Teach or equivalent behaviour management qualification.
