The project has obtained planning approval and has started construction works. The funding for the full lifespan of the project is now secured and in place for the delivery of this new nuclear power station. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. We have a fantastic opportunity for Legal Counsel – Advisory, Training and Assurance. About the Role We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Legal Counsel – Advisory, Training & Assurance to: advise under SZC’s complex key arrangements including the economic licence, debt and equity arrangements while working closely with and supporting your senior manager and the wider legal team in order to provide strategic advice, resilience and support develop and deliver engaging training to build capability so that legal colleagues can advise with clarity and confidence translate legal requirements into clear practical guidance and procedures and partner with SZC’s delivery and commercial teams to assure compliance and continued development drive a culture of accountability, helping the business to meet its commitments and enabling best in class delivery. You will work closely with Sizewell C legal team colleagues, external advisers and SZC business colleagues to embed strong legal awareness and best practice across Sizewell C in the context of SZC’s financing and regulated asset base licensing obligations. About You Qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales (or equivalent) with strong experience of law in a regulatory and/or infrastructure environment, ideally gained in the major projects or energy sector Strong understanding of UK regulatory frameworks and experience working with regulators, in particular with Ofgem, is desirable Strong understanding of legal risk management, compliance and assurance frameworks, and experience of training delivery Excellent, approachable communication and facilitation skills with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance, presentations and processes for both lawyers and non-lawyers and deliver training to a variety of audiences Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving project environment A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail Strong analytical skills to interpret complex contractual provisions Collaborative mindset and ability to build trusted relationships.
