Locum MSK Consultant Radiologist – 12 Month FTC

Seeking a full‑time Locum MSK Consultant Radiologist at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Part‑time applicants will also be considered.
Job responsibilities
* Participate in MDT discussions and provide specialist input.
* Develop sub‑specialty interests that align with the directorate’s needs and strategic direction.
* Carry out teaching, examination and accreditation duties, and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activities.
* Support the Lead Clinician in policy and strategy development as a senior member of the Directorate Management Team.
* Contribute to the leadership and development of the specialty under the direction of the Lead Clinician and Associate Medical Director.
* Ensure effective communication and involve staff across the directorate, including support to the General Manager.
* Work in partnership with colleagues in other directorates.
* Assist in the cost‑effective utilisation of resources (pay and non‑pay items) within budgets.
* Work within the Trust’s framework for Clinical Governance and Risk, including the development of clinical policies and adherence to standing orders, financial instructions and procedures.
* Maintain on‑call coverage: 8 am‑8 pm Monday‑Friday, 4 hours Saturday/Sunday, and an additional 4‑hour weekend shift; other hours supported by an outsourced reporting company.
* Option to set up home‑working computer for reporting.
Person specification
Education & Qualifications
* Fully registered with the GMC.
* Entry on Specialist Register for Radiology, or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview.
* FRCR(UK) or equivalent.
* CCST (or equivalent for non‑UK applicants) or be accredited (or equivalent) and be on the GMC Specialist Register in the specialty appropriate for the consultant post at the time of appointment.
Experience
* Clinical training/experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT.
* Expertise in the full range of radiological imaging.
* Ability to lead a multi‑professional team and take full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
* Preferable sub‑speciality interest in Interventional Radiology, Neuroradiology, Head & Neck, Breast, Chest & Cardiac, MSK or Paediatrics.
* Demonstrable ability to manage priorities.
* Demonstrable multi‑disciplinary team leadership skills.
* Experience of audit and management.
* Flexible approach to work organisation and ability to lead project teams.
* Evidence of management/leadership skills training.
