We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support the delivery of a major electrical substation project, covering works from plinth upwards through to energisation and commissioning.
This is a key role within the project controls function, responsible for developing, managing, and communicating a fully integrated programme across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, working closely with both electrical and civil delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain the integrated project programme from design through to commissioning
* Establish the baseline programme, ensuring alignment across all disciplines including civils and electrical works
* Interface closely with the Civil Planner to ensure programme integration and sequencing of works
* Monitor progress against the baseline, identify variances, and implement corrective actions
* Manage change control processes, including impact assessment and programme re-baselining where required
* Undertake critical path analysis, scenario planning, and lookahead scheduling
* Identify and assess risks and opportunities within the programme, driving mitigation strategies
* Produce clear, concise programme reports and present updates to stakeholders
* Translate complex programme data into simple, understandable outputs for project teams and senior management
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Senior Planner on electrical substation or similar power/energy infrastructure projects in the UK for a tier one delivery contractor
* Strong understanding of EPC project delivery including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases
* Demonstrable experience in programme creation, baseline management, and change control
* Ability to integrate multi-discipline programmes (electrical and civils)
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and propose solutions
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly summarise and convey programme status
* Proficient in planning software such as Primavera P6 (or equivalent)
Qualifications:
* Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering preferred; Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline also considered
