Nightingale Macmillan Unit Clinical Educator

In the Nightingale Macmillan unit we believe that all patients have the right to have an individualised and holistic approach to their care at the end of their lives. We are looking for a highly motivated Clinical Educator, who has extensive palliative care knowledge with a passion for teaching, training and development and supporting staff in the clinical area.

The successful candidate should be able to educate and facilitate learning to a wide range of staff including student nurses, healthcare assistants, registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team.

If you are applying for an Internal Secondment, you are required to consult with your manager and obtain approval prior to submitting your application.


Main duties of the job

The responsibilities of the role will include:

* Educate and facilitate learning to a wide range of staff, and deliver training sessions regarding the management of complex palliative care symptoms within the clinical environment.
* You will work directly and collaboratively with the leadership team, to ensure mandatory and essential to role training is achieved by all.
* Offer support to student nurses and newly qualified nurses in the clinical area.

Person Specification


Skills and Experience

* Demonstrable post-registration clinical experience
* Evidence of ability to work on own initiative
* Evidence of ability to prioritise own workload
* Evidence of ability to use IT: Word/PowerPoint/Excel
* Evidence of attending an advanced communication skills course
* Evidence of leadership skills


Experience

* Evidence of extensive palliative care knowledge
* Demonstrable experience in teaching, supervising and mentoring within the clinical environment


Qualifications

* Have a valid mentor/assessor/teaching qualification
* Must be NMC registered
* Evidence of delivering service improvement projects relating to training/developing staff
