Job Title Fund Accountant - International Fund Services (14 month fixed term contract) Department International Fund Services-BG-UK Overview of Department The International Fund Services Department is responsible for the oversight of financial accounts, tax computations and regulatory reporting for our North American and Worldwide Funds ranges. The department is also responsible for oversight of the daily NAV calculations, which are performed by the outsourced provider for these Fund ranges. Purpose of Role A varied role within International Fund Services with a focus on the firms North American Vehicles whilst providing support to Baillie Gifford's Irish-domiciled UCITS fund range. The fund accountant plays a key role within the department and supports the timely and accurate delivery of financial and regulatory reporting for our various fund ranges. The day-to-day operations for the fund ranges are outsourced and therefore this role is largely focused on oversight and review of work produced by our service providers. Responsibilities Operational Effectiveness Review semi-annual and year-end financial statements in accordance with accounting standards, liaising with auditors and administrators to ensure queries are resolved and deadlines met Review / prepare financial information in relation to fund documentation updates Review / prepare and submit regulatory/statutory filings ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements Review funds’ distribution/dividend calculations, ensuring compliance with the relevant regulatory/tax requirements Review tax returns Oversight of the daily net asset value pricing process, including sign off of oversight tasks performed by other team members Prepare budgets, income forecasts and other financial information as required Preparation of board materials and internal committee reports Prepare information for, and contribute to, valuation matters in relation to the funds Problem-Solving and Communication Provide ad hoc assistance within the department and wider business as required. Respond to team issues and queries promptly Lead/assist on accounting or other project work as required Contribute to and drive forward new processes/process improvements Professional Development Maintain awareness of industry developments and changes to the regulatory and taxation regimes under which the funds operate, and update colleagues as appropriate. Qualifications: IOC/IMC (Preferred) CA, ACCA, CIMA (Preferred) Your knowledge and experience: Knowledge of NA pooled investment vehicles (Preferred) Experience of working with pooled investment vehicles (Essential) Strong technical capabilities The type of candidate that we’re looking for: The ideal candidate for this position will be a technically strong and collaborative team player with a proactive and flexible approach to work.
