Part‑Time Payroll Officer (Education)
Location: Oxford Outskirts, Hybrid. 22.5 hours per week. 13‑month FTC. Salary £19,000‑£21,500 pro‑rata.
About the Job
This role is a varied payroll position in the education sector. You will work closely with schools, colleagues and external payroll providers, ensuring payroll processes run efficiently and employees are paid accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for payroll related queries and provide guidance.
- Support schools with payroll processes, system usage and best practice.
- Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, contractual amendments and additional payments.
- Calculate salaries, holiday pay, overtime and allowances.
- Review payroll data and resolve discrepancies ahead of monthly deadlines.
- Support pension administration activities and associated payroll processes.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure GDPR compliance.
- Produce payroll reports and carry out regular data validation checks.
- Liaise with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to ensure a high‑quality payroll service, assist with audits, reviews and process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience working within a busy payroll environment is required. A strong understanding of payroll processes and legislation, excellent numerical skills, advanced Excel knowledge and exceptional attention to detail is essential. School payroll experience is an advantage but not essential.
